Clear Couple Communication
“C” --There are two “c’s” in clear communication. The first is be
careful not to react or overreact. The second is clarify. Ask the person
to repeat what they said, if necessary.
“L”
-- Listen, listen, before you speak. Remember, it is said “God made
us with two ears and one mouth for a good reason.
“E” -- Echo what you heard said. Either in your head or out loud if
necessary so that you are clear about what is said.
“A” -- Affirm the other’s right to their view. Affirm the person by
carefully monitoring your own tone and body language.
“R” -- Respond appropriately. Sometimes the best we can do is agree to
disagree until we get more information, but always respectfully
disagree.
